We live in an individualist culture, but true mental and emotional health is created in, for, and by community. If you are looking to improve your relational skills, address social anxiety, learn conflict resolution or increase your capacity for vulnerability, group therapy is an incredible tool for growth and change.

If you have been feeling starved for community and connection, and craving a sense of belonging, this is a way to come together in community and heal.

Is group therapy right for me?

If many or most of these statements feel true for you, group therapy might be a good fit for you:

  • I walk through the world feeling certain that others are constantly judging me.

  • I reflect on conversations I have had in the recent past to try and determine what I might have done wrong or whether I might have offended someone.

  • I anticipate conversations for days in advance, and prefer to have a plan for what I am going to say.

  • Unless it is delivered with great care, receiving “constructive’ feedback at work or in intimate relationships usually feels painful, shameful, or upsetting to me.

  • I often struggle to know what to do with feelings of shame, sadness, alone-ness, anger, anxiety, hopelessness or helplessness.

  • I experience intense feelings sometimes but I don’t feel like it is okay to share how I feel with my loved ones.

  • I have high standards for myself and can be hard on myself.

  • I have a reasonable degree of self-awareness, but I don’t know what to do to change how I feel.
